The Johnny Foundation has been blessed to help fund an online
screening project for college students at Emory University through the
American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
It helps to identify students by their answers to the
questionnaire sent to them who might be at risk for depression, addictions,
and eating disorders and encourages them to seek help from the counselor.
Because of the success of this project AFSP has asked us to
help fund the development of a best practices manual, based upon the success
of the Emory project to encourage other colleges to reach out to their
students through this online screening process. We can’t help but wonder
what if Kennesaw State had of had such a program 8 years ago when Johnny was
a student there.
Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in ages 15-24. Your
support will allow us to contribute $15,000 toward the development cost of
this manual that will be sent to colleges across the U.S. with the hope of
saving a precious young life.
